Katie has over 15 years of experience creating and implementing successful human resources programs. She specializes in company-wide compensation programs, leadership development, equity and inclusion work, performance management and on-boarding programs.
Most recently Katie was the head of the Employee Experience function at privately-held design consultancy in Portland, Oregon. During her tenure, the company was awarded Oregon's Best Company To Work for multiple years, was named Fortune Magazine's Most Flexible Workplace In The United States (ranking #3) as well as Fortune Magazine's Top Consulting Firms In The United States (ranking in the top ten). Recently the organization was recognized by SHRM as one of their “When Work Works” national award winners.
Prior to that, Katie was the Director of Human Resources at a mid-size orthopedic company. During her tenure, the company was internationally recognized by the Shingo Institute and was awarded the presitigious Shingo prize for Operational Excellence. The organization also had one of the lowest turnover rates for a manufacturing company in the state.
Katie has a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a B.S in Sociology. She is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) as well as SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
Outside of her profession, Katie loves traveling, spending time with her daughter and pets, and talking Game of Thrones theories.
